Greenwood is a busy school with many activities. Some of our clubs include
Eco club
Drama club
Choir
Chess
Extra Music
Extra Art
Eco club – Every Wednesday afternoon the Eco club, run by trained conservationist Inge Lorrmann, embarks on a mission in the environment. It may be cleaning out the black eagle cage at the bird sanctuary, feeding the orphaned elephants at Knysna Elephant Park, clearing alien vegetation in a conservation area or simply an interesting hike at Nature's Valley. Our children are literally spoiled for choice for things to do in Plettenberg Bay - probably one of the world's most naturally spectacular, pristine locations.
Drama club – Meet weekly. The children learn to move their bodies in space, experiment with different characters and explore their inner selves. They read plays and learn about characterization.
Choir – Tessa Bisogno and Caryn Botha conduct our choir on Fridays.
Chess club – Children learn chess under the tutelage of Gill Wells when they are in Grade 1. Chess develops excellent logic, planning, mathematical and decision making skills. We hope to grow our chess club further and start a tournament schedule with neighboring primary schools.
Art as an extra mural – Approximately 12 children per class experiment with different materials and techniques in this after school activity. Olivia Poluta, the art teacher, encourages them to `think out the box' and push their artistic selves to the new heights.
Music Lessons – At this stage Greenwood offers recorder lessons. We hope to be able to offer other instruments in the near future. |
